Perth contractors secure work

Two Perth-based contractors have secured new work, with Decmil Group locking in a $NZ24.3 million ($22.7 million) contract for two schools in New Zealand, while NRW Holdings will undertake work for Rio Tinto in the Pilbara.

Decmil said it has been selected for the construction of two school projects on Waiheke Island, with design work expected to commence in May and construction beginning in the last quarter of 2018.

The contract relates to the major redevelopment of Te Huruhi Primary School and the redevelopment of Waiheke High School.

“The Waiheke Island project represents the third school that Decmil will construct for New Zealand’s Ministry of Education and will add to the other active projects in the Corrections and Defence sectors,” the company said in a statement to the ASX.

Decmil shares were off 3.6 per cent at $1.20 at 1pm AEDT.

Meanwhile NRW said it has been awarded an 'early contractor involvement' contract by Rio for project development services.

“NRW will provide services and support through early contractor engagement and assist with providing construction expertise into the development of the sustaining capital program of works,” the company said.

“The scope of the works to be performed are not definitive and will be performed under a schedule of rates arrangement, as required.”

Shares in NRW were up 0.8 per cent at $1.29 at 1pm AEDT.
