Perth-based bag brand Alf the Label beat international designers to be recognised at the UK Junior Design Awards 2020.

Alf the Label won gold in the Best Changing Bag Design category for its Ari 4-way convertible backpack.

The awards were organised by UK-based Junior Magazine.

Judges praised Alf the Label for the bag’s practicality, style and use of high-quality materials.

Alf the Label was founded by former public relations and marketing executive Sophie Doyle in October 2016, after she struggled to find a baby bag she liked during her first pregnancy and decided to design her own.

“For an emerging brand like Alf to be recognised on an international platform like this is incredible – just to be shortlisted as a finalist was amazing, then to win gold, what an honour!” Ms Doyle said.

Her business has grown quickly over the past four years, growing her product line from one bag to several collections.

Ms Doyle has previously been recognised for her bag design and the rapid growth of her business, which was named as a finalist for Startup Business of the Year at the MyBusiness Awards 2019.
