Perth Rigging wins national award
WORTHY: Perth Rigging Company's work on the Albany Entertainment Centre has won a national prize.

Perth Rigging Company has taken home one of the top prizes at the Master Builders National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards for 2011.

The business was recognised as the National Specialist Contractor of the Year, for its work on the Albany Entertainment Centre.

The project involved the erection of more than 470 tonnes of steelwork, 140 separate architectural panels and extensive propping and bracing works.

Perkins Builders was the only other Western Australia-based building company honoured at the awards night, taking home a National Commercial/Industrial Construction award in the $10 million to $20 million category.

Perkins won the prize for its work on the construction and renovation of the Bunbury Cathedral Precinct.

The project included construction of a new cathedral, after the original was destroyed in a storm, and the adaptive recycling of other buildings.
