Subiaco-based gold explorer Perseus Mining has announced the appointment of Jeff Quartermaine as its new managing director and chief executive officer.
Mr Quartermaine will replace Mark Calderwood, who is stepping down after nine years as managing director and CEO in order to work part-time at the company.
The company said the appointment is part of its on-going transition to an integrated gold exploration, development and production company.
Mr Quartermaine was Perseus’ chief financial officer since 2010, and will start his new role from 1 February while the company’s current group financial controller, Elissa Brown, will step into the role of chief financial officer.
The company, which produces and explores for gold in West Africa, said Mr Quatermaine has been a significant contributor to the team advancing Perseus’ Edikan Gold Project in Ghana to production and preparing the Sissinguè Gold Project in Côte d’Ivoire for a development decision.
