Perkins Builders has won a $20 million contract for the redevelopment of Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre, part of a two-stage, $38 million overhaul.

The first stage of the redevelopment will comprise a new 50-metre outdoor pool, a new leisure pool and change room facility, refurbishment of the existing 25m lap pool and a new clubroom facility.

The second stage will comprise a redevelopment of the administration facilities, with a contractor to be announced for that component later this year.

The City of Mandurah expects the redevelopment to be complete by December 2015.

Donavan Payne Architects was appointed to undertake the design component of the project earlier this year.

The contract adds to a busy order book for Perkins, which recently won a $3.9 million deal to build new year 7 facilities at Bunbury Senior High School.

Other recent contract wins by Perkins include a $30 million deal to construct the second stage of expansion at Butler College, and a $20 million contract to redevelop the Pinjarra Junction Shopping centre.

Both of those deals were announced in December and followed the award of a $17 million contract to build a shopping centre at Peet’s Wellard Square, and $21 million worth of contracts in the Bunbury region, including new builds at the South West Health Campus, Bunbury and Australind high schools, and Eaton Community College.

Perkins was also awarded a $12 million extension to its ongoing contract at Perth Airport in October.
