JLL has recruited Nicholas Agapitos as director, sales and investments – WA. Mr Agapitos was previously with Colliers International for nine years as WA director, investment services. He has 18 years’ experience in the commercial property sector in Perth and Sydney.
REIWA has appointed Realmark executive commercial director Mike Rowe chair of its commercial network committee for 2018. Late last year, Mr Rowe was appointed WA state chair of the Australian Property Institute. He has been with Realmark since 2014, after previous roles with Burgess Rawson and Ray White.
United Arab Emirates-based marketing and communications agency Acorn Strategy has opened its first international office, opening up shop in Perth. The Perth office will be led by Annabel Amann, who has been appointed general manager and head of marketing communications. Ms Amann joined Acorn in 2014, following Perth-based roles with public relations agencies 3am Thoughts and Linc Integrated.
Telethon Kids Institute has appointed Jane Muirsmith to its board. Ms Muirsmith is managing director and founder of Lenox Hill. She is a non-executive director of Australian Financial Group and Healthdirect Australia. Jim McGinty has retired after nine years on the Telethon Kids board. Ms Muirsmith’s appointment follows that of Fiona Drummond to the board in December.
Member-based, not-for-profit industry association the Gold Industry Group has appointed Northern Star Resources chief executive Stuart Tonkin to its board. Mr Tonkin joined Northern Star in 2013, and has served as CEO since 2016. Before joining the company, he was chief operating officer at Barminco. Mr Tonkin also sits on the Western Australian School of Mines Alumni council.
Accenture has made two appointments to its Perth team. Former EY director Dean Felton has joined as managing director, Accenture Resources. Prior to his three years with EY, Mr Felton ran management consultancy Oyster Consulting for 11 years. The company has appointed Dan Baker experience design lead for Accenture Interactive. Mr Baker was previously digital experience director, Asia Pacific at Precedent.
The High Commission of Canada has appointed Clayton Utz partner Brad Wylynko honorary consul. Mr Wylynko moved to Perth in 1999 and leads Clayton Utz’s environment and planning team. He replaces Roger Blake in the role. Mr Blake had served as honorary consul for more than 20 years.
The Western Force has appointed Brad Paatsch head of commercial. Mr Paatsch was until recently chief operating officer at Optus Stadium. Prior to joining stadium operator VenuesLive in 2016, he was general manager, strategic projects at the Fremantle Dockers for five years. He has also held senior roles at Melbourne Football Club and Collingwood Football Club.
The state government has appointed Anthony Derrick a justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Mr Derrick has served as a judge of the District Court since 2010. A former crown prosecutor and assistant crown counsel, he was appointed a senior counsel in 2009. Amanda Burrows and John Prior were appointed judges of the District Court. Ms Burrows is a consultant state prosecutor in the WA Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mr Prior is a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers.
IRDI Legal has appointed Anna Liscia special counsel. Ms Liscia was previously principal of Liscia Legal. She is a member of the Legal Practice Board of WA, and convenor of its management committee.
Perth lawyers Shannon Davies and Michael Stork have established two new legal practices: Stork Davies Legal Advisors and Perth Property Lawyers. Stork Davies will provide bespoke, personalised legal consultancy services, while Perth Property Lawyers will provide property law documents and services under a fixed-fee model. Mr Davies was previously a partner at Solomon Brothers, while Mr Stork was director of Stork Legal.
BDO has appointed Pippa Hobson a partner in its risk advisory services team. Ms Hobson was previously a risk consulting and internal audit partner at Crowe Horwath, where she worked for almost six years. Her past experience also includes 14 years with KPMG in audit, risk, and compliance roles. Ms Hobson’s appointment brings BDO’s Perth partners to a total of 25.
