Strategen Environmental has appointed Kane Moyle senior principal. He will lead the mining, audit, government approvals and strategy team. Mr Moyle was previously manager, natural resources at The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia, following six years as a policy officer with Recfishwest.
MMJ Real Estate WA has appointed Chris Geers managing director, WA. Mr Geers has been with the company since 2002, joining as a trainee valuer. He was promoted to director, valuations in 2014, and became a shareholder in 2015.
Ashley Kerfoot has rejoined CBRE, becoming the Perth office’s head of advisory and major projects. In addition, CBRE has appointed Chris Monterosso a senior negotiator, and Tom Iredell a negotiator, in the industrial and logistics team. Mr Kerfoot was previously a member of CBRE’s structured transactions and advisory services team from 2011 to 2015. Most recently he was associate director, real estate advisory at PwC, following almost two years as commercial director at CIMC Modular Building Systems. Mr Monterosso previously worked in residential apartment sales with BGC Development. Mr Iredell has trasitioned from CBRE’s commercial valuations business.
Hockey WA has appointed Gary McGrath a director. Mr McGrath is currently general manager, corporate financial services WA at the Commonwealth Bank. He is also a director of the Ability Centre and WestCycle.
Foster Stockbroking has appointed Rob Telford to lead a new Perth office. Mr Telford has over 13 years’ commercial experience working in assurance and advisory, investment banking and funds management. He most recently spent six years with LinQ Corporate, following roles with Barclays Capital and EY. He now takes up the position of corporate executive in the firm’s 1202 Hay Street office. Sydney-headquartered Foster Stockbroking has been in business for more than 25 years and is focused on the resources, mining services and technology sectors. The firm also has offices in Melbourne and Auckland. Commenting on the establishment of a WA office, Foster Stockbroking executive chair Stuart Foster said “We have always believed Perth represents a great opportunity for us to market our firm as a point of differentiation to small cap resources and technology companies in particular, given our east coast presence and strong relationships with east coast institutional investors.” “We expect to further grow our team in Perth in due course.”
BGC Contracting has appointed Gus Elliot chief operating officer, project support. Mr Elliot was previously general manager, construction west at the company. He joined BGC in 2015 after ten years with Leighton Contractors, including senior roles on the Gorgon project. Prior to Leighton, he spent seven years with AMEC.
The government of Western Australia has appointed Wendy Gillan a judge of the District Court and Gail Sutherland a judge of the Family Court. Leonie Forrest has been appointed an acting magistrate of the Family Court for a short term ending at the start of October this year. Ms Gillan’s and Ms Sutherland’s appointments fill vacancies created by the retirements of Philip Eaton and John Walters from the district and family courts respectively. Ms Gillan was admitted to practice in 1987, and has been a barrister in Francis Burt Chambers since 1994. She is a former commissioner of the District Court and former deputy chair of the Building Disputes Tribunal. Ms Sutherland was previously a magistrate of the Family Court, and was appointed principal registrar of the court last year. Ms Forrest has served as a registrar of the court since 2013.
Churchill Consulting has appointed Rodney Nelson senior manager in its performance improvement team. Mr Nelson was previously regional director, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands with DuPont Sustainable Solutions. Prior to his three years with DuPont, he was global mining leader, projects at KPMG, following a stint as an executive director with EY.
Energy Safety director Ken Bowron has added the statutory role of building commissioner to his job title, as the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety moves to merge to the operations of the Building Commission and EnergySafety into the new building and energy division. Former building commissioner Peter Gow was promoted to acting director general of the department last year, since when Ian Munns has filled the role of building commissioner in an acting capacity.
BDO has appointed Diana Forsyth principal in the remuneration and reward practice. Ms Forsyth was previously an associate partner at Stonepoint & Partners. She has worked in consulting for more than two decades, assisting companies including Woodside, Rio Tinto, St John of God, Alcoa, and CBH. Ms Forsyth is currently a director of the Lions Eye Institute.
Deloitte has appointed three partners to its Perth office. Hendri Mentz has become head of the risk advisory team, replacing the retiring Richard Thomas. Mr Mentz was previously Deloitte’s managing partner, Northern Territory. Jillian McCorkindale joins Deloitte’s private business practice after previously serving as a partner in BDO’s tax team. After five years with Deloitte West Africa in Lagos, Vincent Snijders has moved to Perth as an assurance and advisory partner, specialising in energy and resources.
