Paul Niardone

EXECUTIVE director of Professional Public Relations, Paul Niardone, lists the company he founded as his proudest and most significant achievement. PPR began as a dare when co-founder Bob Willloughby told Mr Niardone to put his money where his mouth was. Two months later both men resigned from secure jobs to set up an office on Murray Street in Perth, where Mr Niardone could put his theories and consulting knowledge into practice. During research for his business plan, Mr Niardone discovered gaps in the industry that allowed PPR to differentiate. As very little procedure, system or reporting existed in the public relations industry at the time, Mr Niardone set out to devise his own. These systems are now used nationally within the PPR group and by other accounting and legal firms. Now based in Subiaco, the firm has held the number one position in Western Australia for five years, according to the WA Business News Book of Lists, and is ranked in the top five PR consultancies nationally. Mr Niardone credits the loyalty and dedication of his team as playing a significant role in the business’s success. Just 18 months after PPR was launched, Mr Niardone had to readjust his outlook when Mr Willoughby left the business due to ill health. In the restructuring that followed, Mr Niardone put teams around clients rather than individuals, ensuring clients were not single-point sensitive to any one consultant. He holds a bachelor of arts in political and industrial relations from Murdoch University and completed a master of business administration in 1992.
