Patersons to open Queensland office

Australian stockbroker Patersons Securities Ltd is launching a significant expansion of its national network with the opening of an office in Brisbane.

The Brisbane office will have a full service offering including private client stockbroking, research and corporate finance.

The business will be located at Riverside Centre on Eagle Street and will formally open its doors in mid-January 2008.

The new office will be headed by David Cook, who until recently was with ABN AMRO Morgans in Brisbane.

Mr Cook previously worked with a number of Brisbane broking firms.

Patersons executive chairman Michael Manford said the new Brisbane operation represented an important part of Patersons' national growth strategy.

"We see this as a great opportunity to leverage Patersons' reputation and knowledge of the resources and industrial markets," said Mr Manford.

"Queensland is an exciting market from a number of viewpoints and we believe the Patersons service offering will be well received and supported."

Patersons head of private client services Andrew Coppin said the Brisbane office would provide the company with an entry point to the burgeoning Queensland market.

"Queensland is a growing market with strong business activity and outstanding investment opportunities prospects," said Mr Coppin.

"With positioning in the local market we will be well placed to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in the growing State."

Mr Coppin said Patersons looked forward to building a strong and sizeable team in Brisbane over the coming months.
