A joint venture between Parsons Brinckerhoff and AECOM will partner with the Department of Transport to develop a business case for the $1.9 billion Metro Area Express light rail proposal.
Parsons Brinckerhoff was lead consultant on the first phase of the MAX project, delivering a concept design, while AECOM has provided stakeholder and community engagement services for the proposal.
AECOM transport director Graham Holden said a strong business case for the MAX network would depend on the support and endorsement of the community and other stakeholders.
“The JV team is committed to working collaboratively with the community to mitigate risks and foster support for the project,” Mr Holden said.
Construction of the network is scheduled to commence in 2016, with the first parts of the network operational by the end of 2019.
