TWO of Perth’s favourite watering holes are up for sale.
The Liars Saloon in Victoria Park and the E Bar in West Perth were last week listed for sale or equity participation by administrators Ferrier Hodgson.
Both taverns are owned by Jack Corporation, which was recently placed into administration by investing company Berry-more, after struggling to pay off debts.
Berrymore managing director Eric Spayne said option of administration had been made in the best interest of both creditors and investors.
Offers for the two profitable taverns, including plant and equipment, stock on hand and goodwill, must be completed before the close of business tomorrow (Friday, May 17).
Liars Saloon is located on Albany Highway and regularly attracts a capacity crowd of 215. Mr Spayne estimated the tavern’s weekly turnover at $27,000.
The E Bar, located in Outram Street, opened at the end of January this year and is beginning to attract a regular patronage.
The tavern has a capacity of 450.
In its previous incarnations as O’Connors and Oscars, the tavern had enjoyed huge success, turning over $50,000 a week during the mid-90s, Mr Spayne said.
In October last year, Berrymore invested more than $250,000 in a refurbishment of the premises, which involved a complete revamp of the tavern’s bar, dance floor and décor.
“The E Bar is exciting because it will benefit from all the future developments planned for West Perth,” Mr Spayne said.
“It did a wonderful trade as O’Connors, it will be huge.”
