The Western Force has moved swiftly to appoint Brad Paatsch as its commercial strategy boss, weeks after he was let go as the chief operating officer at Optus Stadium.

Mr Paatsch, who served at Optus Stadium for just over a year, previously spent five years working in strategy for the Fremantle Dockers.

He will initially focus on developing the Force’s commercial strategy along with media partners and sponsors.

“I am really excited about building a new presence for the Western Force, alongside the high-calibre team being assembled,” Mr Paatsch said.

“I have worked on some big projects throughout my career, but this new phase of the Force presents incredible potential and is an opportunity too good to turn down. I can’t wait to be part of another new venture at the heart of the WA community.”

The Force also announced the appointment of Tim Sampson as the team's new head coach.

Mr Sampson was the head coach of the National Rugby Championship side Canberra Vikings last season, guiding the team to a minor premiership before losing the grand final to Queensland Country.

He is also the coaching director at Tuggeranong Vikings, which won the John I Dent Cup during his first year in charge.
