The Public Transport Authority of WA (PTA) has awarded Delron Cleaning and Westland Works contracts valued at about $12.44 million and $4.4 million, respectively.

Delron secured the five-year deal from Transwa to provide on-train services for the Prospector, AvonLink and MerredinLink services.

The Prospector service runs from East Perth to Kalgoorlie, the AvonLink from Midland to Northam, and the MerredinLink from East Perth to Merredin.

Delron will provide hospitality staff on the relevant trains, as well as meals and refreshments, assistance with luggage, fare collection, cleaning and ancillary services at Merredin Station, and relief station attendants at Transwa terminals in East Perth and Bunbury.

In December, the Perth-based commercial cleaning company agreed to ongoing scrutiny of its workplace arrangements by the Fair Work Ombudsman after it was found to have underpaid staff more than $447,000.

Westland secured works in the Perth metropolitan area to provide brush cutting and mowing services in order to control the growth of vegetation around the urban railway network.

The contract will last for two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension.
