The Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, or what its managers are now dubbing The Perth Centre, is set for a busy August.
About 40 events will be staged at The Perth Centre this month, ranging from small corporate events to large conventions.
According to The Perth Centre communications manager Nicolle Jenkins, the centre has attracted more than 2,500 conference attendees since its launch on August 26, and more than 200,000 people have walked through the doors.
“We have had 19 conventions and meetings and 43 events in total since opening,” Ms Jenkins said.
“We have about 40 events planned for October. We’ve got 144 events booked from now until the end of the December.”
Some of the events hosted at The Perth Centre were previously held at other venues and switched to the centre because it could provide for more people, Ms Jenkins said.
Among the big wins for The Perth Centre were: the AcrodWA 2004 State Conference (300 delegates); the 10th Annual Congress of the Perinatal Society Australia and New Zealand (500 delegates); the 2006 Australian Superannuation Funds Association national conference and superannuation expo (1,300 delegates); and the Urban Development Institute Australia national congress 2007 (500 delegates).
Ms Jenkins said upcoming shows such as the Natalie Cole concert and hosting Telethon showed the centre’s diversity.
