Orontide adds hydrocarbons division

Henderson-based engineering services company Orontide Group has added new capabilities with the acquisition of recently established business Hydrocarbon Solutions.

Hydrocarbon Solutions is a niche provider of services related to the storage and management of hydrocarbons and other dangerous goods.

The business was established in February by Sam Sellers, who will head up a new division at Orontide.

Also joining Orontide will be electrical superintendent Craig Riding, who specialises in complex control systems.

Orontide chief executive Stewart Maddison said the acquisition was a logical move, as it brought together the skill set of the small Hydrocarbon Solutions team to win work with the operational capacity of Orontide to deliver larger projects.

Mr Maddison said Orontide was committed to investing capital and other resources into the hydrocarbons division as opportunities presented themselves.

The new division will chase work opportunities across multiple sectors including rail, aviation, utilities, mining, oil and gas and defence.

Privately-owned Orontide has grown over 40 years to be a substantial provider of engineered maintenance and asset preservation services, with more than 300 staff.

The company expects this number to increase as a result of forecast work early next year.
