Operator wins scholarship
THE owner-manager of an expanding Bussel-ton-based tourism business has won a Bank-West scholarship to participate in a management training program.
Former Busselton Shire Councillor Troy Buswell, along with his accountant wife Marg-aret, runs the Villa Carlotta Travel accommodation and tour company.
The scholarship will help Mr Buswell take part in the eighteen month Growth Pro-gram 7 course run by the Curtin Business School’s Small Business Unit.
As part of the course, each participant is allocated an experienced business mentor who helps them complete a specific project to benefit their business.
Villa Carlotta Travel, based in a 100 year old guest house, has doubled in size since Mr Buswell and his wife took over six years ago.
The firm originally used an 18-seat coach to provide package tours for senior citizens from Perth.
Since then it has doubled the capacity of the guesthouse, has a staff of 18 and operates three 46-seat luxury coaches on tours to all Australian states.
