YALUMBA’S vine nursery activities began in earnest 30 years ago at the village of Angaston in the Barossa Valley as the company moved to plant grafted vines in its Eden Valley and Riverland properties.
In those years, quality grafted vines for new plantings were impossible to get and cuttings of the established clones dominated.
News that the Angaston-based Yalumba vine nursery has recently become the first in Australia to achieve national accreditation under the newly developed Australian Vine Improvement Association quality accreditation scheme, is a well-deserved accolade.
In addition, 30 years after it began, the project is viable and providing vine material of the best possible quality.
