Local tech company Nuheara has partnered with multinational manufacturer ams AG to launch its new noise-cancelling earbud product, LiveIQ.

The Perth-based company has developed active noise-cancellation wireless earbuds that have three microphones, using ams’ ANC technology.

The earbuds, valued at about $US200 ($250), are expected to be available in-store mid-2018.

Nuheara chief executive Justin Miller said the launch opened up a broader consumer market for the company.

Nuheara is committed to leading the smart personal hearing devices space by unlocking an industryfirst suite of intelligent hearing products that appeals to a broader range of global consumers,” he said.

“ams AG is the undisputed leader in active noise-cancellation technology.

“The noise-cancelling performance of the AS3412 chip is superb and the guidance from the ams engineers was a great help to our design team in aligning the noise-cancelling system with the mechanical and acoustic characteristics of the LiveIQ earbuds.”

The earbuds feature touch-sensing controls to give users the choice to hear ambient noise as well as the audio output from the speaker, or to listen in silence.

The battery supports four hours of talk time between charges, and 12 hours on-the-go time.

Nuheara shares finished up 2.6 per cent at 7.8 cents.
