THE University of Notre Dame Australia has been invited to
open a Sydney campus on the site of the St Benedicts School in Broadway,
central Sydney.
Notre Dame vice-chancellor Dr Peter Tannock said a decision
on the proposal would be made in the next few months.
“We have commissioned an extensive feasibility study which
concluded that such a campus could succeed. However, no final decision has been
made as to whether we go ahead or not,” he said.
“We have now embarked on a consultative process with
interested parties in Sydney. If the project succeeds, we would spend 18 months
planning for the various courses and colleges, and developing the site.”
If the new campus goes ahead, it would be modelled on the
successful Fremantle campus, which aims to have 5,000 students by 2010.
