Osborne Park-based Northfleet Transport has bought Kwik Logistics less than two weeks after the transport and crane hire business fell into the hands of administrators.

Privately owned Northfleet Bus and Vehicle Hire was founded in 2006 and has 750 vehicles on its books.

Kwik Transport and Crane Hire went into administration in November after losing two significant contracts, while owner and director Craig Smith-Gander sought to complete a restructure of the business, which traded as Kwik Logistics.

McGrathNicol partners Rob Kirman and Rob Brauer were appointed administrators of Kwik Transport & Crane Hire.

In acquiring Kwik, Business News understands Northfleet will take on the company’s 130 staff working under its transport, crane hire and traffic management operations.

Northfleet has not disclosed how much it paid for the business.

Northfleet managing director Toby Hagen said he was very pleased to welcome Kwik Logistics into the company.

“Leveraging our statewide Depot, Workshop and Operations teams we look forward to working with our clients in addressing their complete Transport solutions, whether that be the hire of a Mine Spec LV or Coach to large scale Freight and Asset movements,” Mr Hagen said in a statement.

Northfleet Transport is a relatively new offering under the Northfleet business, it is understood.

Buying Kwik is hoped to expand its freight and logistics capabilities and include crane hire.
