North West Shelf Venture’s LNG marketing arm has appointed senior BP executive Peter Cleary as its new president, replacing John Banner after a three-year term as North West Shelf Australia LNG (NWSALNG) president. North West Shelf Australia LNG chairman Keith Spence said the group welcomed Mr Cleary’s appointment to NWSALNG and believed he would continue to build on the successful marketing efforts and strong customer relationships created by past presidents. Mr Cleary recently relocated to Perth with his wife and their two sons from Seoul, where he was head of BP’s LNG sales and a member of its global LNG leadership team. His appointment comes after the Venture’s decision in mid-2005 to build a fifth LNG processing train at its Karratha gas plant and its continued focus on re-contracting with existing customers, as well as pursuing LNG marketing opportunities in other high-value markets.
