AUSTRALIAN FISHERIES MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (Documentation on www.afma.gov.au ): Request for proposals nlt 17 Apr 03 for the development and production of TELEMETRY EQUIPMENT to monitor the deployment and retrieval of longlines from tuna fishing boats operating around Australia. AFMA is determining market capability to tender for the development, supply and installation of equipment on tuna fishing boats that will: Remotely monitor, record and notify AFMA whenever a longline has been deployed or retrieved; Monitor and record the GPS coordinates of the boat during deployment and retrieval of the longline; Provide longevity in saltwater conditions, and Resist tampering. Note: AFMA is the agency responsible for ensuring the sustainable and efficient management of Commonwealth fisheries on behalf of the community. AFMA manages fisheries within the 200 nautical mile Australian Fishing Zone.
