Treasurer Troy Buswell says there will be no tax cuts for Western Australians in this year's budget.

Treasurer Troy Buswell says there will be no tax cuts for Western Australians in this year's budget.

ABC radio reported Mr Buswell as saying that the state government was not in a position to contemplate a reduction in taxes, but added there was no plan to increase taxes either.

He also said that WA's economy is expected to grow 3.75 per cent this financial year, a turnaround from a previous forecast of a 1.5 per cent contraction.

The comments come ahead of the state budget, which is expected to be handed down next month.

Premier Colin Barnett last week said that several household fees, such as utility bills, and other charges will increase to reflect the true cost of providing the service, and the payroll tax concession for WA businesses will be removed at the end of June.
