Robyn Templeton has been welcomed to the Art Gallery of Western Australia as the gallery’s first indigenous trainee education officer.
An accomplished singer, visual artist, teacher and curator, Ms Templeton has an Associate Degree in Contemporary Aboriginal Art from Curtin University of Technology. While completing this qualification she made the Vice Chancellor's List, and is now finishing a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Ms Templeman has most recently been the Assistant Curator at the Aboriginal Art Gallery, Kings Park.
She has taught art to metropolitan secondary school students, and as Artist in Resident for the Visual Arts Foundation, has also Robyn travelled to remote WA schools, teaching Aboriginal art and culture to students.
Ms Templeton’s traineeship will include program development, marketing and promotion, and business planning, while her perspective will assist in the design and delivery of the gallery’s programs for both indigenous and non-indigenous students.
The indigenous trainee education officer position was developed in a partnership including AngloGold Australia Limited, Carey Mining and the Art Gallery.
