

IINET Ltd has announced chairman Peter Harley has taken on the role of executive chairman. He will act as an executive within the business for as long as required. Mr Harley is a qualified accountant with extensive financial management and corporate experience, and has been on the board of iiNet since 1999. His record in technology is long, having been a general manager and director at ERG Ltd, holding the latter position between 1987 and 1996. In 1998 he took a one-year position as acting chief executive at then-rival smart card and electronic data transfer player Intellect Holdings Ltd. Among other roles, he held a directorship for four years of marine tech group Nautronix Ltd and chief operating officer of education software group HarvestRoad Ltd, holding a seat on the board between 2001 and 2002. He was also a director until 2004 of venture capital firm Foundation Capital Ltd. He is on the board of software company Blaze International Ltd. Lately, his concentration has become more mining linked. Mr Harley is currently a non-executive director of Perilya Ltd, Ranger Minerals Ltd and Gunson Resources Ltd. In addition, iiNet has also appointed GEM Consulting to facilitate a strategic review of the company and has brought in Euroz Securities Ltd to advise on corporate activity, notably to handle expressions of interest in acquiring the business. iiNet remains in voluntary suspension from trading while it continued to work towards reporting a revised EBITDA.
