Chief of one of Western Australia’s largest aged care groups, Dr Penny Flett, has been elected president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA. The CEO of Brightwater Care Group is the first woman ever to head the state’s peak business body. Dr Flett has served on CCI’s Health and Community Services Council since 1996 and was elected to the board of the chamber last year. Member representatives joining the chamber’s general council are Ken Steinke (CEO, WA Newspapers), Susan Murphy (planning and infrastructure manager, Water Corporation) and Professor Margaret Seares (deputy vice-chancellor, UWA). Dr Flett succeeds engineering identity Dr Brian Hewitt, who completed his term as president and was appointed a life member of the chamber.
