Newsmaker - Jorg Imberger

University of Western Australia professor, Jorg Imberger, has been made a fellow of the prestigious American Geophysical Union. Founder and chairman of the Centre for Water Research at UWA, Professor Imberger currently holds a number of fellowships with national bodies, including the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering and the Australian Institution of Engineering. He also holds fellowships with the International Water Academy in Stockholm and the Argentinian Academy of Engineering, and was elected a foreign associate of the US National Academy of Engineering in February 2006. Professor Imberger’s research interests relate to the sustainable management of water bodies, through examining motion and mixing in lakes, estuaries and coastal seas in response to both natural forces and anthrogenic forcings, and the effect of these forces on ecological systems.
