Curtin University of Technology’s new chancellor, Gordon Martin, (pictured) and vice-chancellor professor Jeanette Hacket were officially invested into their roles at a special ceremony at the Bentley Campus last week. Mr Martin is executive chairman of Coogee Chemicals and a former chairman of the Western Australian Energy Research Alliance. Mr Martin said the chancellor’s role offered him a chance to contribute to WA in a new and potentially significant way. "I am excited by the challenges in this important position and I look forward to working closely with the university council to help make Curtin an even greater institution," he said. Professor Hacket became Curtin’s deputy vice-chancellor in 2004 and was appointed vice-chancellor after an international recruitment campaign earlier this year. She succeeds professor Lance Twomey, who left the university in April.
