The new owner of the Newman Hotel Motel in the Pilbara has plans to double the size of the remote lodging to cater for top end executives in the town.

MLG Realty chief executive, Marcus Gilmore bought the 64 room hotel from a WA syndicate.

"I am very excited about upgrading the standard of the hotel to include a high quality dining experience, which is not readily available in Newman at present, and something which I think the local residents will truly appreciate," Mr Gilmore said in a statement.

Mr Gilmore said the hidden potential of the hotel was very exciting to him and he also has plans to expand and refurbish the existing bar and restaurant facilities as well as upgrade the current improvements.

A Perth Property Agent has purchased the Newman Hotel Motel in Western Australia's Pilbara region from a WA syndicate.

Marcus Gilmore, CEO of MLG said he bought the hotel because the North West region is entering another Boom like phase.

The 64 room hotel has a restaurant and cocktail bar, function centre, swimming pool, public bar, drive through Bottle shop and is a two hour direct flight from Perth.

Mr Gilmore said the hidden potential of the hotel was very exciting to him and has plans to double the size of the hotel, expand and refurbish the existing bar and restaurant facilities as well as upgrade the current improvements.

"As the asset was going to be sold, capital expenditure probably hasn't been spent where it should have been. So

Mr Gilmore said most of the developments in the town resembled "Donger' style transportable accommodation and he intends to develop something quite special on the site, to cater for top end executives in the town.

As fund manager of the $100 million Tambrey Luxury Apartments development in Karratha, which is expected to be launched soon, Mr Gilmore is no stranger to the opportunities available in the Pilbara, and in particular those that relate to the flow on effects of iron ore and natural gas projects.
