Perth Airport has partnered with national property manager Vicinity Centres to develop a $145 million 110-store direct factory outlet near the airport.
The outlet shopping centre will be built on a nine-hectare site in the Airport West Retail Park, and will include more than 110 stores and parking for about 1,600 cars.
The majority of the stores will be fashion, together with food and beverage offerings.
“We had identified Perth as a prime location for a new DFO asset with its low representation of outlet centre space,” Vicinity chief executive Angus McNaughton said.
“This joint venture provides a unique and exciting opportunity for Vicinity to further solidify its market leading position in outlet centres.”
Mr McNaughton said Vicinity would be property and development manager of the project.
“This site is a predominant location with strong arterial access, which is a key feature of successful DFO assets, and this site’s location will provide easy and convenient access for a broad catchment across Perth’s metropolitan area.”
Construction of the DFO is expected to begin in mid-2017, with completion planned for 2018.
“For our cornerstone retail development we wanted to partner with the best in the brand outlet space,” he said.
“Vicinity has a highly successful track record in operating its DFOs and was considered to be the ideal development partner.”
The new outlet in Perth will add to Vicinity’s portfolio of five DFO assets across Australia.
Vicinity’s portfolio of assets in Western Australia include Victoria Park Central, Galleria Shopping Centre, Flinders Square, Currambine Central, Midland Gate Shopping Centre and Livingston Marketplace.
