THE Note is no stranger to the rising cost of running a car these days, so it’s no surprise to see one Western Australian group thinking creatively by launching a new online car pooling register. The West Australian Internet Association been has awarded a $4,000 grant to develop and host the online service designed to promote environmentally friendly transport options. The website will feature a car pooling register allowing users to connect with others willing to car pool while also giving advice on cost and energy saving transport tips. This follows the recent growth of Nexus Car Share, which has designated cars and parking spots members can access when needed, rather than owning their own vehicle. Launched in 2007, Nexus Car Share originally began with only a few cars in Fremantle but now has 55 members using six cars across Perth.
