New look Hartley Poynton?

Speaking of problems, can anyone make sense of the new look being adopted by stockbroking firm Hartley Poynton?

In late May, the firm said it would change its name to HP-JDV, as part of a plan to be a bigger player in the e-commerce and financial services business. The latest step follows announcements of deals with AMP, BT, Quicken, Asgard and Solution 6 (oops).

Briefcase may be missing something here but the rapid rate of deal-making looks awfully like some sort of ‘keep-the-balls-in-the-air’ game by a company looking for a future direction after April’s on-market tech-wreck and the very rapid decline in business for all broking firms after the crash.
