New database bonus

THE Department of Mineral and Petroleum resources has redesigned and relaunched the online version of its Western Australian Petroleum Information Management System.

The department says that for the first time WA’s petroleum industry has a single system that integrates the delivery of exploration and production data with petroleum title management, safety monitoring, and well analysis.

The new database is secure and uses an internationally recognised standard petroleum data model,

WAPIS was developed in wide consultation with the petroleum exploration and data management industry, while staff from the DMPR’s Petroleum Division have been invited to make presentations about the system at forums in Malaysia and Bahrain.

A map-based web browser that complements WAPIMS by allowing data to be viewed by location is available via the department’s website –
