NEW Perth company buildingworld.com.au plans to target the $40 billion Australian building industry sector with the launch of an Internet site.
buildingworld.com.au offers Internet services for business to business, business to consumer and will act as a portal or niche search engine for consumers wanting more information about the sector.
According to director Ron Forlee, the search engine portal was a significant feature of the new Internet site.
“It purely focuses on the building sector in Australia as opposed to other Internet search engines which gives information on all subjects,” Mr Forlee said.
“According to a report, The Parting of Portals, by Forrester Research in late 1999, it is predicted that vertical and niche sites will attract 57 per cent of advertising dollars by 2004.
“Consumers alone spend some $17 billion on new homes in Australia each year and they are increasingly using the Internet to find out more information on products and services in this sector.”
buildingworld.com.au will become the leading Internet site for the building sector in Australia offering consumers information on more than 370 products and service categories.
“Over the past year, buildingworld.com.au developed a database of more than 250,000 building sector companies,” he said.
“As a company, we have spent more than a year developing the site and consumers can assess any information for product related to building from hiring an architect to finding a plumber.”
