New category for 2005 Industry and Export Awards

ENTRIES for the 2005 WA Industry and Export Awards can now be submitted. The awards recognise the importance of exports to the economic development of the state. Almost one third of Western Australia’s gross state product is generated by exports, more than any other state. Exports from WA totalled $35 billion in 2004, according to the State Government. Among the benefits to awards applicants are: access to export advice from Austrade and the Department of Industry and Resources; attendance at seminars and workshops; networking; business development and promotional opportunities; promotion on DoIR’s website; and free membership with the Australian Institute of Export (WA) for one year. The awards feature 14 industry and export categories and the Premier’s Award for Excellence. A new industry category has been introduced this year called the Innovation Excellence Award. Export category winners automatically compete as finalists in the Australian Export Awards to be presented in Sydney in December.
