New berths on ports

IAN Williams has been appointed chair of Port Hedland Port Authority and Alan Birchmore is to chair the Albany Port Authority from September 1.

Mr Williams has occupied a number of senior management positions in mining and processing industries – both in Australia and overseas. His most recent role was with mining giant Pasminco.

Mr Birchmore has been chairman of marine operator Mermaid Marine since 1998.

The latest appointments follow the appointment of former BP executive Peter West to the chair of Dampier Port Authority; former transport industry executive Ian King to chair Geraldton Port Authority and former Portman Mining chief Ian Burston to the chair of the Broome Port Authority.
