Decmil Group has appointed civil contracting executive Rod Heale to the top job following the resignation of Dickie Dique last month.

Shares in the Osborne Park-based construction company were up 25 per cent amid news that its search for a permanent CEO had concluded, with Mr Heale set take up his role with Decmil on June 20.

He replaces interim chief executive officer and non-executive director Vin Vassallo, who had been brought on during the search to replace outgoing CEO Mr Dique.

Mr Dique announced his resignation from the business at the end of April, with the company simultaneously dropping its FY22 revenue guidance and flagging a likely loss.

Mr Heale’s previous roles include chief operating officer of John Holland’s Australia and Asia business and regional executive positions with Thiess, John Holland and CPB Contractors.

Decmil chair Andrew Barclay said the company was impressed with Mr Heale’s ‘determination’ and plans to help Decmil regain the momentum it had built by winning new contracts.

“Our search criteria had a very clear focus on operational experience in our sector combined with excellent customer relationships and Rod absolutely ticked those boxes,” Mr Barclay said in a statement.

Mr Heale is set to receive a total fixed remuneration of $850,000.

Decmil shares were up 25 per cent at 12:39pm AEST, to trade at 12 cents.
