Network helps local exports

THE WA Government has developed a network of overseas offices to help companies develop business opportunities and attract investment to the state.

Currently there are offices and trade representatives located in London, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, India, Thailand, the Philippines and Taiwan.

The London office also covers Europe.

Some of the ways the overseas offices help WA businesses include:

• Basic market research for a product, service or industry sector

• Identifying market and investment opportunities

• Assisting in making introductions to local buyers, agents, distributors and joint venture partners

• Helping with cross-cultural communication

• Assisting with import and export procedures

• Helping to organise trade missions and company visits

• Providing on the spot political and economic information.

The Department of Commerce & Trade also has country and industry specialists supporting the overseas network.

These specialists provide country and market profiles, market research assistance to companies looking to export for the first time or those wishing to identify new markets for their products and services.

The information is available for established and emerging markets.
