Aspiring iron ore miner Aquila Resources has appointed former Gindalbie Metals managing director Tim Netscher to its board as an independent director, while long-serving Aquila non-executive director and major shareholder Charles Bass (pictured) has retired.

Mr Bass said he looked forward to continuing his involvement with the company through his shareholding, with no plans to sell other than possibly for charitable purposes.

Mr Netscher worked at gold miner Newmont and iron ore miner Vale before joining Gindalbie.

He is also chairman of uranium explorer Deep Yellow.
