Navitas joins S&P/ASX200

Perth-based global education provider Navitas has been included in the S&P/ASX 200 for the first time.

Navitas will replace West Perth-based International Coal Holdings, formerly known as Straits Resources, in the S&P/ASX200, subject to shareholder and court approval of an acquisition bid for ICH by Thai mining conglomerate PTT Mining.

Navitas chief executive Rod Jones said the company had come a long way since first listing in 2004.

"When we listed we had 11 colleges in four countries," Mr Jones said.

"We now have 30 colleges in seven countries in our University Programs Division alone, as well as four other education-related divisions, making us a global leading provider of education."

Over the last four years, Mr Jones said, Navitas has more than doubled in size, including revenue and profits.

"Our commitment to student support and quality academic outcomes has helped us to grow substantially and achieve this significant company milestone.

"We look forward to continuing our growth and helping many more students' realise their life goals through education," he said.

Navitas will be officially included in the S&P/ASX 200 following close of business on March 4.
