Perth Lord Mayor Dr Peter Nattrass will not contest the upcoming City of Perth elections, leaving the position open for one of five candidates after nominations closed today.
Deputy Lord Mayor Michael Sutherland drew first place on the ballot, followed by East Perth pensioner Bill Bradbury, incumbent councillors Max Kay and Lisa Scaffidi, with stockbroker Neil McKinnon drawing fifth position.
Ten valid councillor nominations were received for the four seats up for re-election, currently held by Cr Kay, Cr Scaffidi, Cr Janet Davidson and Cr Rob Butler.
Only councillors Janet Davidson and Rob Butler are re-nominating for their seats, making the election an all-or-nothing proposition for Cr Kay and Cr Scaffidi.
The other eight councillor nominations comprise Mr Bradbury, former Deputy Lord Mayor Bert Tudori and business identities Ainslie Gatt, Sandra Liu, Margaret Hall, John Tognolini, Tina Lewis and Neil Scott.
All local government elections will be held on October 20.
