Intellectual property consultancy QPSX Ltd has undergone a facelift, changing its name to ipernica Ltd last month. Western Australians are familiar with such name changes and seem to adapt fairly quickly to new monikers for old companies. For instance, mining company Iluka Resources Ltd was named after a merger between Westralian Sands and RGC Ltd. The reverse occurred at SECWA, when it was divided into Western Power and AlintaGas (subsequently abbreviated to Alinta). ipernica now has the ASX code of ‘IPR’, which is convenient when it comes to creating anagrams of company values. Featuring prominently on the new website are the catchphrases ‘innovate’, ‘protect’ and ‘realise’. Easier to work with than the letters q, p, s and x, anyway.
