NRW wins $158m BHP deal

Mining contractor NRW Holdings has won a $158 million, 12-month contract with BHP Billiton for rail and road infrastructure works in the Pilbara.

The contract comprises three sections - the Goldsworthy to Finucane Island rail duplication earthworks, the Mooka access road and Mooka marshalling yard.

The company expects its peak workforce for the projects to be around 200, and it will mobilise on site in July.

Works are expected to be completed in June 2012.

NRW managing director Jules Pemberton said the deal took the company's order book to around $800 million for the next financial year, out of a total book of about $1.74 billion.

In early trade this morning, NRW shares had gained 1.5 per cent, to trade at $2.66.
