WELSHPOOL earthmoving business NRW Pty Ltd has acquired Hazelmere-based Action Mining Services, creating a major player in WA’s mining contractor sector. The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, comes as NRW undergoes a restructure of its corporate entity, which is common ahead of stockmarket floats. NRW general manager Jules Pemberton said NRW would not comment on speculation about a potential float, only saying that it there were no plans “at this stage”. Mr Pemberton would also not comment on NRW’s acquisition of Action Mining Services. WA Business News understands the acquisition will boost NRW’s staff beyond 500 people. Action Mining Services was founded almost 20 years ago by Steve de Mol with its staff numbers growing from three to about 90. Mr de Mol declined to comment on the sale of his business. NRW was formed in 1994 by Jeff McGlinn and John Silverthorne. Mr McGlinn and Mr Silverthorne’s company, NRW Holdings Pty Ltd, applied to ASIC to have its company status changed from a private to public company on February 12. Mr Pemberton is also a shareholder of NRW Holdings, as well as NRW chief financial officer Gino Chiarelli and operations manager Peter Miguel.
