Mystery failure hits security firms

SOME of Perth’s most security sensitive tenants, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, had their operations shut down for about 24 hours by a mystery power failure.

The managers of 66 St George’s Terrace, next door to London Court, are mystified by the blackout which occurred on Tuesday, last week.

It is understood the facility’s manager, Resolve Facility Management, has commissioned a report into the incident during which an emergency back-up system also failed, leaving tenants largely without communications.

Apart from ASIC, the AMP-owned building also houses sensitive data and operations of the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Commonwealth Director of Prosecutions.

One senior manager working with an agency in the building at the time described the power failure as a concern for the high security tenants.
