Munro steps up Viento role

Calibre Group co-founder Ray Munro has agreed to take an executive role at Viento Group, where he will work alongside contracting veterans John Farrell and John Silverthorne.

Mr Munro joined Viento in July as chairman, and it was believed the company was planning to recruit a new chief executive.

However the Osborne Park-based company announced today Mr Munro would become its executive chairman.

He will join NRW Holdings co-founder Mr Silverthorne and former VDM Group boss Mr Farrell, who sit on the company's board as executive directors.

Viento was a relatively inactive property company but over the past two years has been in the process of becoming a diversified mining services contractor under its new directors.

In its annual report released today, the company reported a net loss of $4.4 million for the year to June 2013, from a profit of $0.7 million previously.

The changes in the business were reflected in the growth in revenue, which jumped 10-fold to $24.3 million.
