Mt Gibson rejects takeover speculation

Mount Gibson Iron Ore Ltd has today confirmed that is not involved in any discussions with any parties concerning a takeover.

The company was responding to a request from the Australian Securities Exchange which noted recent press speculation of a takeover by a third party.

The miner said it was not aware of any takeover offers concerning it.

Mount Gibson holds iron ore operations on Koolan Island and the Mid West region, which has been the subject of intense Chinese interest following Sinosteel Corporation's successful takeover of Midwest Corporation Ltd and its application to acquire a stake in Murchison Metals Ltd.
