Mortimer to Reefton

Reefton Mining has appointed Chris Mortimer as general manager for its mineral sands and diamond operations. Mr Mortimer will be responsible for the overall management of Reefton’s mineral sands and diamond operations, formulation and implementation of approved exploration programs, the negotiation of strategic partnerships in relation to the Skeleton Coast project and the generation of new project opportunities for the company. Mr Mortimer worked for Iluka Resources for the past 16 years, in India and Sri Lanka, where he was country manager for the company’s mineral sands operations, helping discover a 1.5 billion tonne resource. He has 25 years’ experience covering a wide range of areas in exploration, evaluation of both mineral sand and alluvial deposits worldwide. Reefton considers Mr Mortimer’s experience will help it evaluate the mineral sands potential of its Skeleton Coast project in Namibia.
