Mirabela out of admin, appoints new CEO

Perth exploration firm Mirabela Nickel has confirmed it has left the hands of administrators and has appointed a new chief executive officer.

In February, Mirabela was placed into the hands of administrators as it employed a strategic restructuring plan to raise new capital, and proposed a debt-for-equity swap that left its shareholders at the time owning just a small fraction of the company.

Yesterday, KordaMentha partners Martin Madden, Cliff Rocke and David Winterbottom, who were the appointed voluntary administrators, gave notice to ASIC that the deed of company arrangement had been fully effectuated.

As such, the day-to-day management and control of Mirabela has been returned to the company’s directors.

The company has also announced the appointment of Maryse Belanger as chief executive officer and managing director, who will work from Brazil and be paid an annual base remuneration salary of $US450,000 plus additional benefits.

Mirabela said Ms Belanger is a geologist with more than 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, including long-term assignments in Africa and South America.

Prior to joining Mirabela Ms Belanger was senior vice-president, technical services, at GoldCorp, where she oversaw all aspects of geology, geostatistics, mine planning and design, geotechnical engineering and underground development. 

Mirabela has the backing of international private equity firm Capital Group for a 6.95 per cent stake.
