Mining and engineering contractors were the biggest losers today when the S&P Dow Jones rebalanced all of its Australian indices, with RCR Tomlinson one of the few to buck the trend.

As part of a regular quarterly shuffle, 39 Western Australian public companies will make up a number of Australian companies to shift standings on March 22 in recognition of altered market capitalisation.

RCR Tomlinson was the only WA company to join the All Australian 200 index while Kingsgate Consolidated, Perseus Mining and Sundance Resources were removed.

RCR Tomlinson’s shares closed down 0.3 per cent at $3.27 today.

OZ Minerals was the largest company to drop a category, moving from the ASX100 to ASX200 index.

The copper and gold miner, which has a market capitalisation of $1.2 billion, was trading down 1 per cent in the share market today, closing at $3.92.

Ausdrill, Decmil Group and Silver Lake Resources were the other three larger companies to drop a category, moving from the ASX200 index to the ASX300 index.

Companies that moved up a category include TFS Corporation, which joined the ASX300 Index.

The sandalwood producers shares rose 5.56 per cent to close at $1.71.

Atrum Coal, Amex Resources, Gage Roads Brewing Company, Logicamms, nearmap and PBD Developments all joined the All Ordinaries Index.

There was a longer list of companies that are no longer part of the All Ordinaries Index.
